Pilar Contardo is an artist born in Santiago, Chile in 1969 and residing in Naples, Florida since July 2016. She studied Art at  Universidad Catolica's School of Art in Chile, PUC, where she graduated in 1992 with a Major in Fine Arts and a concentration in painting. Pilar Contardo has painted all her life, the memories she has from her childhood is related to drawing and painting. Her painting style as figurative, expressionist and with an intense use of the luminous colors and a strong bright palette. The drawing is precise and expressive, she preferred technique is oil on canvas at it gives the painting more depth.  The thematic of her painting is centered on the human figure. Pilar creates imaginary characters out of her personal memories and portrays them in ordinary life situations intimate settings where the characters, mainly couples, talk to us about the human psychology. The characters face the viewers, observes them and get them involved in their own situations. Pilar Contardo has clearly distilled her own unique visual language 

Pilar Contardo main interest is painting but she also has explored others fields like sculpture, design, a others specific projects. She has exhibited her works in art galleries, public spaces like streets, parks, companies, and universities. She likes being part of art projects that have a social impact and can make a contribution to society. For example, she has participated in important projects sponsored by the city which consists of the installations of artwork in public spaces and today several of them can be found on important streets of Santiago, Chile's capital city. Pilar Contardo truly believes that art in the cities contributes to a better quality of life for every citizen. She likes the relationship between the art and non-profit organizations. For that purpose, she has donated works different charities and foundations that auction the artwork to raise money for important causes. In Naples, she is part of the

Naples Art Association, a non-profit organization that has a long history of promoting art and artists. Her 25-year art career has seen many solos as well as selected group exhibitions in art galleries and museums. Pilar Contardo has exhibited in Chile's most renowned art galleries among them La Sala Gallery (www.galerialasala.cl), Arte Actual Patricia Ready Gallery, El Caballo Verde Gallery (www.elcaballoverde.cl), she is currently represented in Chile by La Sala Gallery. Her artwork is part of private collections in Chile, Canada, Spain, United States, France, and Norway. Important companies in Chile have selected her artwork for their art collections (BCI Bank, Universidad Catolica, Consorcio,  CCU and Santa Cruz Vineyard
